My Home Mat
East or West Home is the Best
Home is where we live, eat, sleep, play, dance, sing, cry and laugh. Some people have big homes and some have small homes. I love my home! Want to see my home where I live with my parents, grandparents and sister? Let me show you my home with my little buddy, Musky.
Friends there are many types of houses. My house is a bungalow. Musky, show my friends our garden which has beautiful flowers and gives us fresh air to breathe. There is also a parking space for cars in our house, this space is called a garage. Now let’s take them inside our house to the living room where we all sit and watch television, play and spend some quality time with each other.
Then comes the drawing room, here we have sofa sets and a center table. The room is decorated beautifully. It is commonly used for entertaining guests. Guests are welcomed to the drawing room where they can spend time with other members of the house. We can say the drawing room is more of a formal space.
Now Musky let’s climb up to the first floor and show my friends my grandparent’s bedroom. This bedroom has an attached bathroom. Then there is a pantry and kitchen. Here we cook food and keep all the utensils used for cooking and serving food. All the edible items that are to be used on a daily basis are kept in the kitchen and the excess or extra food items are stored in the pantry.
Now Musky, let us go to the second floor, see friends, this is our washing area. Here, we wash clothes and put to dry the washed clothes in the balcony. Now friends, let’s go to my bedroom. We relax and sleep in our bedrooms. See friends, my room is full of toys. Friends, I clean my bathroom by myself after using it. I also help my parents in cleaning other rooms as well. Keeping our house clean is very
important for our hygiene.
Now let’s go to the third floor, where we have a store room to keep all the spare (extra) items. Now there is a guest room also where guests come and stay. My aunt and uncle visit us often on weekends so they stay in the guest room and I enjoy playing with them. Hey friends, now let’s go to the roof, look, we can see the surroundings from our roof. Hope you all loved my home. Thank you Musky for helping me show my house to my friends.

Teachers Note
In a classroom setup a teacher can teach concepts like upward, downward, left and right while moving Musky in different directions in the house. While playing with Musky you can elaborate about each room as they take Musky to the room and can ask kids what they do in that room at their homes. This mat has been designed to teach kids about basic understanding of different rooms in the house. Playfully learning concepts can increase the retention and recall span of kids.
