Counting 1 to 20 Mat
Let’s Count the Birdies!!
Let’s engage in an exciting learning activity! Instead of simply opening a book and studying, we will play a game that involves the Musky buddy and the thematic mat. First, we will spread out the mat and place the Musky buddy at the starting point, which is marked as 1 and features a red bird. As we progress through the game, not only we will learn to count, but we will also discover various types of birds.
The game involves giving commands to the Musky buddy and moving it from one numbered block to another. You can choose which block to move to, adding an element of choice and fun to the learning activity.
Had a great time playing with your cute little learning buddy, Musky? Check if you can answer these questions.
Q1. Which is the last number of the mat?
Q2. Can you tell which bird you see at number 16?
Q3. Do you know what comes before 12?
Q4. How many birds can you see on the mat?
Q5. Write the counting from 1 – 20 in your notebook.

Teachers Note
The mat aims at making children learn numbers from 1 to 20 in a play manner. To make it a fun game, we have introduced birds along with numbers. The teacher can instruct children to move the Musky based on the questions asked. It’s a fun way of learning numbers and sequencing, what comes before/after each number.
Also, children can be taught the names of birds. The teacher can also discuss which bird can and which cannot. Which type of birds live on trees, ice, water and so on. Further, the birds can also be classified according to their eating habits- wild birds and farm birds.
