Sunday, Funday!!

I love Sundays as we spend the whole day with the family and have fun. Last Sunday, we decided to go out and enjoy the day. We had also planned to do some grocery shopping. I also had to get a haircut. We all left our home and got our car refueled at the fuel station. While my mother took me for the haircut, my father and my sister went to the clothing store to buy a dress for my sister. We spotted an ice cream shop from where we bought our favorite ice cream and relished it. I love chocolate ice cream. Which one is your favorite?

After the grocery shopping at the Supermarket, we all were hungry and went to the nearby restaurant where we had yummy food. While we were eating our food, my sister spotted an airplane. Our father told us that there is an airport nearby. After buying fresh vegetables from the farm market, we went back home.

It was such a nice day, we had great fun. I came back home and started playing with my Musky buddy. Guess which mat I chose? Yes, Community mat. I recalled the day and directed my play buddy to make it go to the places we went to and saw on the way.

Teachers in classroom setup can teach a lot of social information necessary for a child to learn in a playful manner. As a teacher, you can discuss all the shops and places on the mat. How are they different, what material do they provide, what services do they provide and so on. You can also ask them to follow the shortest path to reach a certain destination.

Tasks can be given to children depending upon the learning we want to drive from the class. Community helpers, directions, shops, supermarkets, modes of transport and many things can be taught with this mat. Also, after the completion of the task you can play a rhyme for kids to learn and enjoy.This will boost their learning and they will get a sense of achievement resulting in higher self-esteem and resilience.
