Vowels Family Mat
Learn about ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘i’, ‘o’, ‘u’ Family with Musky!
One day my father came to me and asked ‘Do you know what vowels are? I said a little bit. He then asked me to tell him about the alphabets that are considered vowels. I told him a few alphabets which we were taught by our teacher in the class. He asked me if I wanted to learn more. I excitedly said yes. He asked me to bring my Musky kit.
There are 5 vowel mats i.e. ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘i’, ‘o’, ‘u’ family mats independently. I spread the ‘a’ Family mat and kept my Musky bot on the ‘Start’ block. My father gave the command to the Musky but it didn’t move. Oops, I forgot to turn it on, I said! I turned it on and Musky started moving from one block to another.
My father kept telling me about different ‘a’ family words and asked me questions related to each word. It was such a fun learning time, I spent with my father. He told me that we will learn about more vowel family words the next day. I insisted him to play with me using one more mat. He agreed and unknowingly, we got so engaged that we kept changing mats and we spent hours together playing and learning with Musky.

Teachers Note
When teaching vowel sounds and words associated with the sound, writing down the words in a notebook can be a tedious and boring task for children. The mats are designed to enhance learning in a play way method for better retention.
Each vowel sound is introduced independently on separate mats. To make it appealing each word is presented with an image for identification and recognition of words with their respective images. Teachers can frame questions for kids to move the Musky and learn ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘i’, ‘o’, ‘u’ Family sounds.
