Frogs and Crocs

My Musky kit comes with this cute ‘Frog and Crocs’ Mat that makes me learn counting from 151 to 200. On Sunday, my friends Ravi, Ruhan, and Atharv came to my home to play with me and my cute little Musky buddy. We played the Frogs and Crocs counting game with Musky. We decided to throw the dice and whichever number comes, we will make Musky move that many steps. When Musky reaches the box where there is a frog, it will jump high and reach an increasing number of boxes and when it reaches the box where there is a crocodile, Musky will have to come backward. We all were playing this cool game and were very excited. My parents were happy seeing us play and learn with Musky.

Had a great time playing with your cute little learning buddy, Musky? Check if you can answer these questions.

Teachers Note

Learning numbers can be monotonous and tiring for kids, so to make it fun and easy to learn for children, we have added concepts of general awareness along with numbers and made a fun game.

Simple as it appears what we need to do is just simply play frog and crocs games. Let children sit in a group and turn by turn roll the dice and code Musky to follow the instruction given according to the number on the dice. Can be played by a single child as well as a great group activity.

Teachers can easily teach number sequencing, concepts like addition and subtraction, concept of what comes before and what comes after with the help of this mat. Teachers here can do additional learning of carnivorous, herbivorous and omnivorous animals. If a child’s number falls on crocs block the child has to drop down according to the arrow demarcation, and if the turn comes out to be on the frog, the child will climb up following the arrow direction. This is a simple way to explain to children the importance of the food cycle.

Depending upon the age, the concept of the food chain can be introduced with numbers for children. Simple and engaging activity to learn numbers and when a child finishes the game a rhyme can be played for the children to learn and give a sense of achievement to the winning child.
